The live show features 5 tracks from “Our Love to Admire” as well as Obstacle 1 from “Turn on the Bright Lights”. Interpol are a band that although from New York, have no problem fitting into the British scene. As is evident on this recording from the famed London Astoria. With real emotion in singer Paul Banks vocal (with mere hint of Jim Morrison if possible) this is not just a carbon copy of the studio release. Possibly the British audience bring out the best in the band, some have written past live performances are “accurate as opposed to passionate” this isn’t one of them.

The first time we saw The Little Ones was back in 2006 during CMJ at Northsix. Looking at the the band you’d think they hadn’t stopped smiling since then. Almost two years later despite technical issues the band bounced through an amazing set to a packed room at the Redeye Fly, Austin.
We’ve heard the new EP “Terry Tales & Fallen Gates” and we weren’t disappointed.

SXSW 08:Meiko at Orchid

Day two started with Meiko’s show in the sunny bright afternoon. Although she said she was a little tired before the show started, she was not only a very good SSW but also an entertainer. Service industry relies on tips and her last song was basically about a man who she served as a waitress didn’t tip her at all without any reasonable reason. She even managed to track down the guy’s myspace page through his name on his credit card bill. “Tip Me” – that song stuck in my head for a quite long time and every time afterward whether taking a taxi or at restaurant, the song pops up and goes ” tip me, tip me, tip me”.
